It is now the fall season. This is the time that many of us feel like falling down we are so busy.
As The Appian Way staff are still standing, we have decided to expand our radar inventory. The Appian Way is now the proud owner of two Houston Radar Armadillos.
The Armadillo is the tiny grey sensor strapped to the tree trunk in the centre of the photo. This unit is marketed as ‘the most convenient device on the market’. I would agree. Other than attaching the device, there is no installation process. No measurements to input, or outputs to calibrate. All one needs to do is turn it on. Without having to do any adjustments, one may be concerned with accuracy. Preliminary tests and calibrations indicate less than 5% error when compared with other methods. Also, this unit will record up to four lanes of traffic, allowing for many applications.
Besides the Armadillo, we have also expanded our inventory of Jamar Radar Recorders, by five units. These durable devices provide safe and unobtrusive data collection. They are also being upgraded to record two same direction, as well as bi-direction, lanes of traffic.
